Proud to Support Ethical Vision

Ethical Vision is a UK-based nonprofit optical store and eyewear charity. It was founded in 2005 by optician Gillian Caplan with a simple but powerful mission: to make vision care accessible to people who can’t afford it, while also reducing waste in the eyewear industry.

Ethical Vision has helped communities in Kenya, Brazil, India and other regions, providing access to vision care where it’s often scarce. The charity has a focus on empowerment – recent projects include work with women-led groups in Brazil and long-standing support for Eyes for East Africa

The charity is supported in several ways: Ethical Vision sells its own range of eyewear either online or in person at selected independent opticians, including here in our King’s Road practice.

In addition, eyewear designers and suppliers donate end-of-line or surplus eyewear to Ethical Vision that would otherwise end up in landfill. These frames are then sold, and the profits fund charitable vision projects. The charity also receives financial donations from businesses and members of the public.
