Lesca Lunetier

Lesca Lunetier is a French eyewear brand known for its vintage-inspired designs. Founded in Paris by Joel Lesca, this family-run company is now in the capable hands of the founder's sons, Mathieu and Bertrand, who are carefully guiding the brand into the future whilst honouring its past.

Joel Lesca started the business originally sourcing vintage French frames to resell to opticians. He then went on to create his first collection in 1964 in a small workshop in Paris. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, Joel witnessed a stylistic and creative revolution in design across furniture, fashion and architecture which heavily influenced his eyewear designs. He developed a strong preference for an assertive style, creating thick-rimmed glasses that highlighted the materials, as famously worn by Le Corbusier. 

Unwilling to use mass manufacturing techniques, the company has developed limited collections in small-scale workshops or factories. Since 1964, Lesca has employed craftsmen from several European countries, notably France and Germany. Inspired by old-fashioned hand-made techniques, Lesca eyewear continues to be riveted and shaped according to strict specifications. 

Joel’s sons, Mathieu and Bertrand, grew up in the assembly workshops surrounded by glasses and it was only natural for them to share his passion for the family business as they grew older. Through their travels in search of inspiration and new pieces, they quickly realised that French eyewear has a true identity and is appreciated all over the world. Since completing their studies, they have both focused on developing the brand in Paris and London respectively, while ensuring the artisanal qualities of Lesca remain.
