Here at Auerbach & Steele, clinical excellence is provided by a team of highly qualified optometrists and dispensing opticians who have been with Auerbach & Steele for many years. They are subject to programmes of continuing education and further qualifications to continually develop their skills.
Customers have the confidence that they will see the same optometrist on every visit to ensure continuity in their eye care. This clinical expertise is backed up by the most sophisticated equipment available and the practice has recently invested a further £250,000 in the very latest state-of-the-art technology in our three consulting rooms.
All examinations are carried out by an optometrist, there is no pre-screening by unqualified “Optical Assistants” as is commonplace elsewhere. It is sometimes necessary to carry out a specialist scan following a routine eye examination. An Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a hospital-quality scan that uses cutting-edge technology to look more closely at your retina. Many common eye diseases can creep up on you, without any significant symptoms. In particular, an OCT scan can help to detect eye conditions such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Digital images will be stored and compared at subsequent visits to show any changes in conditions. Your optometrist will advise if an OCT scan is recommended.
